Remove Text Formatting

This text cleaner clears formatting from your text in one step, stripping HTML tags, extra spaces, tabs, and other hidden clutter that rides along when you copy content from a website, a Word document, or an email. What's left is clean, plain text you can paste anywhere without unexpected styling or spacing.

Every option below is an independent toggle, so you can turn off anything you'd rather keep — leave "Strip Tabs" unchecked if you actually want to preserve tab-separated data, for example.

What does each option do?

Strip HTML Tags removes markup like <b> while keeping the text inside it. Strip Extra Spaces collapses runs of multiple spaces down to one. Strip Empty Lines removes lines that are blank or whitespace-only. Remove Line Breaks turns every line break into a single space, joining your text into one paragraph. Strip Tabs deletes tab characters outright.

Trim removes leading and trailing whitespace from the text as a whole, while Trim Lines does the same to each individual line. Remove Whitespace strips every space, tab, and line break, squeezing everything together. Remove Non-Alphanumeric keeps only letters, digits, and line breaks, dropping everything else — punctuation, symbols, spaces. Remove Emojis strips emoji characters specifically and leaves the rest of the text untouched. Remove Punctuation removes punctuation marks like commas, periods, and brackets while keeping letters, digits, and spacing intact.

When would I need this?

Anytime hidden formatting is causing problems — pasted HTML breaking a plain-text field, stray tabs misaligning a list, or a wall of blank lines left over from a document export. It's also useful for quickly stripping a block of copied text down to just its words, for things like word counts, keyword lists, or feeding text into another tool that doesn't want markup or symbols in the way.
